Prescott, AZ to Cottonwood, AZ 44 miles
Today was a most magnificent day. The temperature was in the high 50’s when we left Prescott and headed for Cottonwood, a little town outside of Sedona. The scenery was so picturesque and since it was such a short day, no one seemed to be in a hurry. In fact my group were the laggards pretty much until we hit the climb up Mingus Mountain which is about a 2500 ft. climb. The climb allowed us to catch most of the rest of the group with the exception of the “A” teamers and Father Kevin and Jon the rock solid Brit.
Yes, we do have a priest with us. As a matter of fact, we have 2 pharmacists, 1 cardiologist if needed, a grave digger (for sure) in case things get really bad. If they aren’t too bad you can always see our HR (Human Resources) professional or the priest. For female specific problems we have the gynecologist. I think they should take our whole team and make a Survivor episode.
After summiting Mingus mountain, we coasted into the little mining town of Jerome and ate at the Haunted Hamburger, world famous or at least for tourists. We spent a little time in Jerome shopping where I picked up 2 Tshirts. Something about 158 turns, 14 miles and all that. Jerome touts itself as a biker and beer town with an artist problem. It really is a very neat town. Lots of neat shops, wine bars, tourist traps and lot and lots of art.
Tomorrow we ride into Sedona and all are to wear our CrossRoads Cycling jerseys as we ride up Oak Creek Canyon and into Flagstaff.
I am just sitting here relaxing by the pool and drinking a little Bass ale with my new found British friends.
Cheerio…..until tomorrow.

Hey Ty....so good to see you cycling again cross country. I am doing well and I just gave my last (10th speech) at Toastmasters this morning. Tell Tracy, if her ears were burning, it's because I mentioned her name. Have a safe trip Ty. Will have lunch w/Jed next week. All is well in Texas. JPM
