Cottonwood, AZ to Flagstaff, AZ 46 miles
Another hard day of climbing. We left Cottonwood this morning at 7:15, the usual departure time and lollygagged to Sedona which is about 20 miles, climbing the entire way. Cottonwood is about 3400 feet and Flagstaff is at 7000 feet. We stopped at the little coffee shop on an overlook at Sedona and had a nice apple turnover and a latte. Time for more climbing. There is only one way out of the Canyon and that is a 17 mile climb, with the last 1.8 mile fairly steep. We are talking mountain goat steep. Hillbilly that is...
Anytime you see signs that read "scenic" you know you are in for a treat. After reaching the top of Oak Creek Canyon we took a brief respite and headed for Flagstaff climbing another 1000 feet in the process. All in all yesterday we climbed over 4,000 feet. Today as I post is Sunday and a rest day. We are all doing laundry, chatting and relaxing. Massage scheduled for 10 our time.
My only problem is that my computer is now totally trashed and I am scrambling to try to find another one. Not having much luck right now. This could prove to be interesting over the next few days. Tomorrow another 94 miles and it looks like we will have a whistling tailwind. Lets hope so...
Signing off.....
Enjoy the pics. The steep one is obviously the end of Oak Creek Canyon.
